PHilosophy Of Education
I BELIEVE....
Learning is a lifelong experience. A student's formal education should be the catalyst to a lifetime of curiosity and exploration. I believe that education is a means to self, community, and world discovery; therefore, students need a creative, exploratory classroom. As an educator, I seek to create a classroom with high-expectations, creativity, and compassion.
Education is not just a teacher to student interaction. Learning is the entire classroom experience. As an educator, it it my job to facilitate learning and help my students reach their full potential. By creating a student-focused environment, the learning becomes less teacher-directed and more hands-on. Students learn from their peers as well as the teacher.
The classroom is a place to develop students into global-minded citizens. My classroom is also a text-rich environment. I intentionally incorporate texts about current events to promote a comprehensive worldview and an understanding of global issues and events. As a teacher, I am preparing my students to compete in the globalized world of the 21st century. My students will leave my classroom with the tools to be successful learners, thinkers, and achievers.
Differentiation is key to the success of all students. Just as no two students are the same, their learning styles, levels, and interests are varied too. Differentiating to meet the needs of all students is not only important; it is absolutely necessary. In my classroom, I believe all students can be successful with the right opportunities. This is why I seek to differentiate my instructional activities, materials, and strategies.
